6 PM - CLOSING NIGHT: WHAT HAPPENED TO THE WOLF?* (2hr 11min, Myanmar)

Moe grew up in strict traditions. Way is rebellious & free-spirited, but born with a heart defect: shutting everyone off around her so that she can die anonymously. Their destinies intertwine upon meeting in the hospital; thereafter a shared journey to the fabled “sea of clouds” powerfully beckons.

Programmers’ Note: After the February 2021 coup d’état in Myanmar, the military junta violently captured & imprisoned thousands of people who participated in anti-coup & civil disobedience movements, killing at least 6,337 civilians as of September 2022. Many protestors had to flee the country; the Director of WHAT HAPPENED TO THE WOLF?, Na Gyi, is among them. The ruling junta issued arrest warrants under section 505 (A) against him. Na Gyi is still in hiding.  Lost River expresses our deep gratitude & solidarity with filmmakers Na Gyi, Moore Thit Sett Htoon & Myat Noe. Thank you for your enriching contributions to our festival & our best wishes for you to all stay strong in the fight against the unjust, brutal oppression underway.
